As previously advised, a new release (Release 9) of the Malta Medicines Verification System (MaMVS) is scheduled for the end of October. MaMVO can now inform all end users that the upgrade of the national system is scheduled for Tuesday 26th October at 22:00 CEST (10pm local time).

MaMVO has been informed that the upgrade of the national system will require a downtime of 3 to 4 hours, during which time it will not be possible for end users to access the MaMVS.

MaMVO advises end users to be guided by the provisions of Article 29 of Delegated Regulation 2016/161, namely that if persons authorised or entitled to supply medicinal products to the public are unable to verify the authenticity of and decommission a unique identifier of a medicinal product bearing the unique identifier at the time this is supplied to the public during this downtime, then those persons authorised or entitled to supply medicinal products to the public should record the unique identifier and, as soon as the system is available again, verify the authenticity of and decommission the unique identifier.
